1860/50 25C Liberty Head Round California Gold - PCGS MS64 BG-819 OGH

The 1860/50 25C Liberty Head Round California Fractional Gold is a fascinating piece of American numismatic history. Struck during the height of the California Gold Rush, these privately issued fractional coins were created to meet the demand for small denomination gold in everyday commerce. With its Liberty Head design and unique overdate feature, this piece represents both rarity and historic charm.

Graded MS64 by PCGS, this coin is a true condition rarity, especially given its age and origin. The surfaces display strong luster and exceptional preservation, making it one of the finest known examples. Even more desirable, it resides in an Old Green Holder (OGH), a collectible slab style that adds further prestige and appeal for advanced collectors.

Cataloged as BG-819, this issue is part of the historic Breen-Gillio reference on California fractional gold coinage. With a population of just 8 coins graded by PCGS, it is a truly scarce offering that seldom appears on the market. The combination of its rarity, condition, and historic background make it a must-have centerpiece for any specialized collection.

For collectors of Gold Rush coinage or fractional gold specialists, this 1860/50 Liberty Head Round 25C stands out as a top-quality opportunity. With its low population, overdate intrigue, and PCGS MS64 certification, this coin will be treasured for generations to come.
