John Reich designed the capped-head concept of Liberty, and it was modified by Chief Engraver of the Mint, William Kneass. It proved to be a popular design and lasted from 1815 to 1838. Many of these Capped Bust Quarters are very difficult to find that would not grade very poorly. This grade Capped Bust Quarter graded in an XF40 only has a population of 17!
